The fourth annual Business of the Year awards will be presented by Hamilton Business Alliance (HBA) on Wednesday, June 8th. The awards will be presented at the annual meeting of the HBA and Partnership for Community Development (PCD), 7:30 a.m. at the Colgate Inn. The annual meeting and continental breakfast is free and open to the public, cosponsored by the HBA and PCD. Reservations are required. Make reservations by phone 825-3537 or email .

To submit a nomination, send a one page letter outlining why you believe the person or business is deserving ofthe award. Self nominations are allowed. Nomination deadline is Friday, May 6. You may email your nomination to Art Zimmer, , or mail it to Art Zimmer, Awards Chairperson, 51 Eaton Street, Hamilton, NY 13346. Membership in HBA is not required.

The five awards to be presented are:

  1. 2016 Business Person of the Year
  2. 2016 Business of the Year
  3. 2016 Artist of the Year
  4. 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year
  5. 2016 Economic Development Advocate of the Year

 

 Must be a person who day to day, hands on, is an owner or manager of a business in the greater Hamilton area

 Must provide organization, leadership and mentoring of employees

 Must exhibit involvement in community non-profit organizations through donations of time and/or monetary resources

 Must be a private sector business in the greater Hamilton area

 Must demonstrate adaptation and growth in a competitive business environment

 Must provide quality service and customer choice to its customers

 Must exhibit ongoing community service or support of community programs through donations of time and/or monetary resources

 Must be actively engaged in the arts: performing or visual (photography, graphics, sculpture, music, etc.)

 Must display unique “professional” innovative or creative skills

 Must reflect or cast Hamilton in a positive fashion

 Must benefit Hamilton and surrounding area in some way

 Must exhibit community service or support

 Must be an individual who owns or manages a business in the greater Hamilton area

 Must bring an innovative product or service to the greater Hamilton area that acts as a catalyst for further economic growth

 Must assume considerable initiative and risk bringing their product or service to the greater Hamilton area

 Must be an individual who is not a professional economic developer

 Must have a record of exhibiting outstanding leadership, support and/or cooperation in furthering and supporting community/economic development efforts in the greater Hamilton area
